Display Board Dimensions

The poster display boards at AGU’s Fall Meeting are 4 feet (121.92 cm) high by 6 feet (182.88 cm) wide and have a 1-inch (2.5 cm) frame. The dimensions of the usable work area are 46 inches high by 70 inches wide (116.84 cm x 117.8 cm).

Available Poster Sizes

  • 36-inch (91.44 cm) Height x Any Length up to 70 inches (177.8 cm)
  • 42-inch (116.84 cm) Height x Any Length up to 70 inches (177.8 cm)

All posters will be printed at the height specified. The width will be determined by the proportions of the artwork. The maximum width is 70 inches (1778 mm). Any unused space on the widest edge will be trimmed off. For example, if you select the 42” option but provide artwork that scales to 42×50, you will receive a 42×50 printed poster.

General Artwork Guidelines

  • Use CYMK color. We recommend converting spot colors and RGB elements to CMYK to avoid unexpected results.
  • Image file resolution should be at least 300 ppi (118.11 pixels per cm).
  • When preparing a PDF, embed or outline all fonts.
  • Keep all text or graphics at least 0.25-inches (6.35 mm) away from the outer edge.

Accepted File Types: PDF & JPEG only

If you are having difficulty converting your poster to PDF, please consider using Adobe’s PDF converter, which is available at (https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/online/convert-pdf.html).

PDF

PDF is the preferred format for file submission. We recommend using PDF/A or PDF/X if available.

JPG Files

Create file at actual size at a resolution of 300 ppi (118.11 pixels per cm). Use CMYK color.

Exporting from Microsoft PowerPoint

PowerPoint files must be converted to PDF or JPEG prior to submission. When Exporting PowerPoint to PDF, under Options, choose PDF/A compliant if available.

The maximum page size that can be defined in PowerPoint is 56-inches (142.24 cm). To print posters larger than 56 inches (142.24 cm) wide it will be necessary to enlarge the image. Please make sure the page size is proportional to the final poster size so that when enlarged it will fit evenly.
